I’ve been listening to some conservative arguments that the government needs to be smaller or far removed from their lives; the thing I am having a hard time with is wrapping my head around how being anti abortion fits into this worldview. Whether or not you assign the label of pro choice or pro life to yourself, when referring to yourself as pro life you are certainly taking the stand that government needs to be involved in the lives of everyday Americans. By conservative “logic” the government is a lumbering incompetent beast that should be shot in the head with Teflon coated bullets, but only after it makes abortion illegal. For a group of people who claim they want no government and firm believers in freedom they sure go out of their way to prove otherwise.
