From hell’s heart I stab at thee
I’m grateful that I had a real hunger for words and books when I was younger, I might not ever be the smartest guy in the room but I have a deep pool of phrases that I can pull from in social settings. I say this as a good thing because I have been annoyed beyond all description by a friend’s constant utterance of the phrase “truth be told”. The first time I heard it, I thought it was strange thing to say, it seems to very much be a turn of phrase that has gone out of fashion; but three solid weeks of it is enough to make a man scream. This is indicative of the failure of our public schools and why we need to invest more money into them. We don’t need to have standardized tests be the barometer of a schools success; we need to make sure that the children of the future can read, write, and effectively put together a sentence. We need to do this so that in the future when I talk to the younger generation that my eyes don’t bled due to the banality of this miserable little rotters speech patterns.
