My friend Joseph had brought up that Pet Sounds deserves to be added to that very exclusive list of perfect albums. I’d have to agree, but it’s very easy to over look the greatness of this record because nothing in their entire oeuvre hints they were capable of creating something this good. It’s hard to imagine that a band that made Be true to your school could produce a song as a delicate as God only knows why.
The question is though is it better than Dark side of the moon? Probably not, and I don’t want to sound like I am not impressed by pet sounds it’s just that I like the subdued atmosphere and relentless hopelessness on Dark side better.
