R.I.P.

In a sport filled with over the top machismo no one person better exemplified the cartoon histrionics of manhood quite like Randy Savage. A flashy inarticulate Neanderthal, “Macho Man” was the very definition of cool to the eyes of an impressionable youth. He seemed to embody a lost strain of manhood, wild and untamed fueled by a seemingly bottomless rage yet behind his swagger there was gentle side. There was no subtlety to Randy Savage, he was a man constant action or he could have just been insane.

As an adult, there is no doubt in my mind that he abused steroids to achieve his sculpted physic, and that if the heart attack didn’t kill him he would have faced a straw death from years of abuse done to his body. He should be praised for his charisma, being a consummate professional, and for his technical skills inside the squared circle. He belongs now to the ages, thanks for the memories Randy.
