Another Monday, another email from “Rick Scott” telling the state workers what a drain they are on the state’s economy. This oddly reptilian figure won the state election by 68,000 votes and has somehow confused that pathetic margin of victory to be a mandate to dismantle the apparatus of state government. There is something fundamentally loathsome about a man as oily and corrupt as Rick Scott being the head of Government, a man whose alleged business experience involves paying back the government $600 million due to Medicare fraud. His stewardship is affront to any person who claims to be a values voter.
I suppose what annoys me the most is this asinine belief that the Republican Party has fooled people into believing and that is the Federal Government doesn’t create jobs and that government only hinders the free hand of capitalism. That free hand of capitalism has worked so well recently, but my anger hasn’t been displaced to the current administration its focused on the morons who think deregulation is the cure to all our social ills. Maybe it’s a horrific thing to watch business move overseas so that the free hand of capitalism can pay someone much less to do a job so that our ruling class can have a much nicer quarterly statement. I have read every one of Rick Scott’s “letters” to the state, not once has he talked about job creation, and I know his press secretary trying their damndest to make him sound like anything else other than a vapid empty vessel there isn’t every going to be anything of substance coming from his mouth. This is a man who still talks and speaks in sound bites and while that is great, he has yet to espouse anything other than the typical talking points of I hate Obama and the government is bad. I don’t expect him to understand that Florida is a service based economy, and that most of our “industry” like sugar and farming are supported by government subsidizes, but when the fiction is so good why let facts get in the way of the narrative. Does he expect the 15% unemployed to suddenly find a job bagging groceries or folding sheets at a Laquinta Inn.
I guess the government is bad, who wants a well funded municipality, who wants a competent police force, health department, and fire department. Who wants safeguards for the citizens of the state? Let’s get to work.
