A is A

Millionaire tax cheat and tea party governor Rick Scott made the obligatory visit to the Department of corrections yesterday, where trailed by a gaggle of press officers in time honored tradition pretended to care about the fate of the 450 workers that had been assembled. Many were nervous about the impending layoffs, but Rick Scott wanted to assure them that while their job isn’t important to him he still knows how to mimic sincerity for his larger political aspirations.
The crowd burst into applause when veteran account supervisor Delphine Hill had the audacity to politely ask the tea party automaton about the definition of accountability.
"You said to hold you accountable," Hill said. "What have you required of the wealthiest Floridians to contribute to the state deficit?" Mrs. Hill politely but firmly pointed out that state workers have not had a raise in six years and are now being threatened with increased health care costs and reduced benefits.
The autocrat was briefly flustered by the concerns of the longtime state worker but quickly regained his poise and was able to deliver a message devoid of compassion; If state government is leaner and more efficient, entrepreneurs will come to Florida and create jobs, Scott said. Consumers flock to Wal-Mart because of cheaper prices, not because of the benefit package it offers to its employees, Scott said.
Scott has proposed slashing the state budget by $5 billion, trimming the state work force by 5 percent and showering corporations with $1.7 billion in tax breaks. The cuts would cost the DOC $82 million and nearly 1,700 positions, if the Legislature goes along with the spending recommendation this spring.
