pouring its light into ashes

short of the cleansing power of the Apocalypse, I doubt very seriously that the fine arts will ever regain the cultural pedigree they once had. The blame can of course be placed on the shoulders of cinema. How can a simple drawing or painting ever hope to compete against the awe inspiring might of moving pictures. A painting has one image to imply a story, elicit a emotional response, and that has to be done almost instantaneously. Cinema can take its time to do all those things, and it's effects tend to linger longer. Which isn't to say that every motion pictures appeals to the gold in us, gods balls when I watch a Michael Bay film I am inspired to shoot something, but my point remains valid.
