I have decided to buy an opaque projector. It has been on my mind as a possible purchase for the better part of the last three years. I had always made the excuse that I don’t have the money, but that wasn’t an entirely honest justification, for the most part I was lazy but now see the importance of having one and I feel a bit more driven my brothers.
An opaque projector is a tool that I hope will allow me to achieve greater “realism”, while I want to move away from being dependent on photos to achieve “realism” it seems that some of the people I had roped into modeling flaked out thus necessitating other avenues to achieve my goals. The other boon, as I see it is that I can take a design and blow up a thumbnail and not have to use chalk and vellum to transfer an image to drawing paper or canvas. This process will hopefully allow me to stay in love with the image, because the aforementioned process strips the drawing of any affection I might feel towards it.
